Start-up Visa
This program is to attract entrepreneurs to choose Canada as a favourable investment destination. Through this program, an immigrant applicant is linked with designated angel investor groups or venture capitalists. Under this category, immigrant applicants pitch their ideas to potential investors seeking investment for their business proposition. Upon receiving a support letter from a designated organization, the potential immigrant must apply for a work visa.
A letter of support by the designated angel investor group, venture capital fund, or business incubator is required. It should include a minimum financial commitment of $200,000 from a venture capital fund or $75,000 from an angel investor or acceptance into a business incubator program. In addition, language requirements, proof of sufficient funds are required, and up to 5 applicants for one business are allowed if: each holds at least 10% voting rights and jointly with the designated organization have more than 50% voting rights.
